As with all flights now, certain things are restricted such as liquids volume, electronics etc. I will try and outline those below.
- For flights from London/UK to Turkey Laptops & Power banks are allowed on the planes. However, the flight from Turkey to London/UK are not permitted to take Power Banks or Laptops in carry on luggage. Laptops are either given at the time of check in or just before departure to be placed in the hold area of the plane. I was informed on my last trip back to the UK that power banks were banned completely and could not be taken in the hold luggage.
Which suitcase is best?
Well! Naturally this is extremely subjective. But if you are not interested in testing out bags until you find the right one, then I will give you a few select options which will last and keep you travelling happy!
Firstly, let’s start with which suitcase is best for Checked in Baggage
Checked in Luggage is a suitcase which has to go into the storage hold of the plane, meaning you give it to staff when you check in and then receive it again once the plane has landed and you have passed customs
Checked in baggage restrictions on planes to istanbul
Atlas Global: No dimensions specified. – 30kg
Turkish Airlines: LxHxW=158cm Max – 23kg
Pegasus Airlines: No dimensions specified – 32kg
With this in mind, the following would be suitable to take as checked in luggage.
Extremely well made. Expandable to fit more when you need it. 4 Spinner wheels (can be pushed in any direction)
Much lighter than the others. Unusual colours which will make it easier to spot when collecting in the airport.
Feels very delicate.
Very cheap in comparison to others. Feel sturdy.
Only one colour available, not as premium feel. Very heavy!
(I personally went for the Antler suitcase, I have had it since 2013 and no issues thus far!)
Which suitcase is best for Cabin Baggage
This is take on luggage, meaning you keep it with you for the entire journey and it simply goes under the chair in front of you or in over-head storage.
cabin baggage restrictions on planes to istanbul
Atlas Global: 56x45x24cm – 8kg
Turkish Airlines: 55x40x23cm – 8kg
Pegasus: 55x40x20cm – 8kg
I could again highly recommend Antler for a cabin bag if you are travelling light, although I have heard good things for Samsonite.
